Spanking Good, Spanx Bad...........

Spanking can be Good.

Spanx can be Bad.

Yea, so I'm still gaining weight. A month ago I wrote about how I had put on a few pounds in "136#-109#-150#-What?".

I really thought at that point I had plateaued when I blogged about my new weight odyssey back on May 30th.

I was wrong.

Flash forward 30-some-odd days and I sit before you at 165 big old pounds.

Yep...
So there seems to be no end in sight to this great expansion.

Why?

I'm still drinking liquid crack from McDonalds's

and CrackBucks.

I bought spanx y'all.....  I don't like them.
This is how I felt...

It is time to take control... Check Thyroid. Cut down on the liquid crack....

Daytime Romping and the Midnight Jamboree

It seems like lately I have a booked solid "dance card" every weekend.  There are so many obligations, chores, things to tend to and - finally - some fun....

Friday night was the show at the Norris Community Building in Norris Tennessee.  Read about that hereMom came with and spent the night so she would not have to drive.  This is good.

Saturday morning I put together the Fowur-Bazillion Bean Salad for Sunday's family reunion at Frozen Head State Natural Area.  Then off to the Midnight Jamboree at the Earnest Tubb Record Shop / Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville Tennessee.

We got to Nashville in the afternoon, just in time for me to realize I've only been there a few times and I SHOULD have done my research because there is A LOT there to see and do.  I did NO prep-work so I had no idea where to go for anything except the jamboree and to sleep.

What I did see:
The Parthanon in Centennial Park

Engine #576 in service 1851-1957
Nashville, Chattanooga and St. Louis Railway Steam Engine
Centennial Park itself (duh)

Rocket Fizz Soda Pop and Candy Shop (wooooooah babeeeee)

Tazza for supper, and it was better than I expected.

Nashville has skyline and buildings galore!

I know it is hard to believe right now, but I am fairly well traveled.... Germany, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Austria, Netherlands, Luxembourg.....  But not Nashville....

Justin Trevino was the headliner at the Midnight Jamboree radio show. The man can sing.
Pure Country. Listen to  "Take One as Needed for Pain".  And, if you ever find yourself in NashVegas on a Saturday night, and you like REAL Country music, stop by the Record Shop there at midnight and catch a free show during the weekly radio broadcast. If you can't go but like the music, tune in Saturday night for the live show here.

I will be going back and doing a better job at being a tourist...

Stick'n Beans Cowboy Style and the Run???

So, on the last 2 Sundays I have been down at the farm "sticking pole beans".

OK - yes, there is an "art" to this.

First, one must understand "being the cowboy".  This means you do things the best, most efficient way with as little discomfort as possible.  An example would be working in the field so as to take advantage of the ever-moving position of the sun and trees - staying in the shade as much and as long as possible.

The bean seeds are planted 2'-2.5' apart in two rows.

You obtain poles, which in our case means my brother drives to the canebrakes (arundinari gigantea) and cuts cane poles in such a way as to not damage tractor tires later. "No More Pointy STUBS!!!"

When the bean plants come up, but before they 'run', you must water the ground around the plants so the canes can be stuck into the ground.  The dry earth at our family farm is H A R D!!!

The canes are pushed into the ground just out past the root system of the bean plant.

The canes are gathered in toward the center and tied.

At the point you finish the row (or rows) of beans, you step back and ogle your accomplishment.

You go to the river.
You watch your mom have fun!

You go to the barn.

You find a new friend...
Can you find the Rattle Snake?

YOU RUN AWAY!!!

Cougar???

OK, so I was reading today's blog post by my friend Reba K. Writes. Today's was about Celeb Girl Crushes. You have to go read and check photos.

I agreed with her picks but then decided that made me a cougar of sorts because I agreed with her picks. Ok, I am joking - bad joke. But, funny to me.....

Then I thought, "wait, I have lady crushes of my own" and went picture finding...

Aishwarya Rai

Ice, Ice... Maybe???

Is it half full or half empty?

So I arrived at work 20 minutes early today (and NO, I do NOT know why I did this – and YES, I am as sane as I ever was………  Stop laughing.

STOP!!!!!!!!!!)

I had left my trusty Crackbucks (RED) stainless steel tumbler on my desk last night so I snatched it up and
tooled back to the kitchen to wash it, ice it, and pour baby pour………

Then it happened.

Again…

I open the freezer and there are a few cubes of ice in the ice bucket.  Thinking I like to FILL my tall tumbler with ice, I skip the bucket and reach for an ice tray.
My usual modus operandi is to:
  • Twist the tray to loosen the cubes
    Yep, actual footage here...
  • Pull enough ice to fill my cup
  • Dump the remainder in the ice bucket
  • Fill the empty tray with water
  • Stuff filled trays back in freezer
Easy Peasy!!!

Doesn’t that seem like the polite thing to do?  My parents raised me to be this way. You know?

This morning I had “MY” fill (no pun intended). As with MANY times here at work, I pull one of the 5 ice trays out and it was half full.  Half full is acceptable IF:
  • You do not have an ice bucket to turn the clean cubes out in to when done pilfering them from the tray
  • If there is no fresh water to refill the tray with
  • If Godzilla is after you and you simply don’t have time for fear of death or dismemberment
Why? WHY do people do this?  Do they:
  • Do this at home?
  • Think this is their house?
  • Assume someone else will pick up after them?
  • Have live in maids at home?
  • Have an Ice-Tender?
People, no one here is your mommy. No one here is your maid. Grow up.

I think I am going to go on strike
